Construction of SKL's 6th school project is now underway in the village of Ban Na Chantai in the district of Savannakhet in southern Laos. Because of the remote location, SKL's builder, his family, and employees set up living quarters at the job site. Local villagers are participating in various labour intensive stages of the construction, such as foundation digging and back filling.
Thanks to our generous donors, we have reached the 95% mark in our fundraising with $71,000 raised against the goal of $75,000. The five-classroom school will be officially inaugurated in mid-December when SKL representatives and donors travel to Ban Na Chantai.
Taste of Laos 2016 was an outstanding success thanks to SKL supporters! The dinner was sold out which meant, unfortunately, we had to turn away some of our long-time attendees who hoped to be there. We would like to thank our many ticket sellers, especially Chantai Taillefer and Pasith Phommarath for their hard work and great success in inviting guests to the event.
We are grateful to Savanhthong and Amy Thoudsanikone for brewing delicious coffee beans from their plantation in Laos for dinner guests. We also appreciate their donation of the proceeds from the sale of coffee beans that evening. Their presence added a unique aspect to the dinner.
Special thanks to Cho Venevongsa, Roger Wilkinson, John Loewen, and their friends and family members for their presence, enthusiasm and colourful presentation of the upcoming Wasabi Charity Golf Tournament.
Words cannot express our gratitude to the kitchen volunteers. They are generous with their time and effort, and their culinary talents bring our supporters back year after year, hungry for more of the delectable Lao cuisine. Kudos to our colourful volunteer servers with their traditional silk outfits who worked tirelessly throughout the evening making sure nobody left hungry!
Thank you for returning year after year to support SKL's Taste of Laos event. The net proceeds of the dinner always go to the construction of a school in Laos, this year, in Ban Na Chantai. You make it all possible. You inspire and encourage us.

Time flies ... Before we knew it, it’s almost time to attend the school inauguration for Viengkham Lower Secondary School. We started our donation drive to build this school two years ago. In these 2 years, you helped us achieve our milestone of the fifth school built under SKL Inc., and our first secondary school that we rebuilt! We cannot express how grateful we are, for you to trust us with your continued support and generous donations, out of the so many charity causes out there. Thank you again.
The inauguration which will be held on December 18, 2015, will be marked by the attendance of donors and supporters from Manitoba, Ontario, United States, Singapore, United Kingdom, Australia and Laos. We think you will agree with us that this is truly a worldwide effort that came together to help School for Kids in Laos Inc. achieve its mission to provide children with an adequate learning environment by rebuilding dilapidated schools in Laos.

Led to charity that builds schools.
Sometimes it can lead to changing the lives of children in a far-off country.
That’s what the Phanlouvong family has done — along with the father’s high school friends — after vacationing in the country the father escaped from in 1979. And that’s how School for Kids in Laos (SKL) came about.
