Time flies ... Before we knew it, it’s almost time to attend the school inauguration for Viengkham Lower Secondary School. We started our donation drive to build this school two years ago. In these 2 years, you helped us achieve our milestone of the fifth school built under SKL Inc., and our first secondary school that we rebuilt! We cannot express how grateful we are, for you to trust us with your continued support and generous donations, out of the so many charity causes out there. Thank you again.
The inauguration which will be held on December 18, 2015, will be marked by the attendance of donors and supporters from Manitoba, Ontario, United States, Singapore, United Kingdom, Australia and Laos. We think you will agree with us that this is truly a worldwide effort that came together to help School for Kids in Laos Inc. achieve its mission to provide children with an adequate learning environment by rebuilding dilapidated schools in Laos.
We invite you to follow us on our travel blog for this special occasion on our website.
SKL is in the local newspaper, the Winnipeg Free Press! Life lesson learned from trip to Laos
Led to charity that builds schools.
Sometimes it can lead to changing the lives of children in a far-off country.
That’s what the Phanlouvong family has done — along with the father’s high school friends — after vacationing in the country the father escaped from in 1979. And that’s how School for Kids in Laos (SKL) came about.
SKL Inc. is deeply grateful to Mr. Phouvong Phamisith, owner of Phouvong Jewelry of Vientiane, Laos, for his generous contribution of 48,000,000 Lao kip ($6,000 USD) which enables SKL to balance the budget for completing the ongoing construction of Vienghham Lower Secondary School. On Monday April 20th, 2015, SKL Inc. representative in Laos, Mr. Viengphoukhanh Soutannouvong officially accepted this significant donation. Also in attendance at the presentation ceremony were the principal and teachers of Viengkham Lower Secondary School, District Ministry of Education representatives, and the leaders of the six villages that will be served by the new school building. Pictured in the photographs are Mr. Phamisith (white shirt), Mr. Soutannouvong (blue shirt) and other participating dignitaries. As the first major Lao corporate donor, Mr. Phamisith further strengthens SKL’s global and multi-cultural coalition of dedicated supporters.
School for Kids in Laos Inc. is pleased to welcome our new sponsor/collaborator, PHOUVONG JEWELRY in our efforts to help children in rural regions of Laos. Mr. Phouvong Phamisith and Mrs. Chanthone Komsou are philanthropists and owners of this fine jewelry-making retailer in Laos.
